virtual author visit

One alternative to an in-person visit is a virtual visit through Skype or FaceTime. Although a virtual visit is not as personal as an in-school visit, your students and staff will still enjoy the interaction between readers and writer. Young readers are often bursting with questions they’d like to ask an author, and an online visit offers a way for them to ask their questions directly to me.

If you’re new to the notion of a virtual visit, here’s a good article--“Met Any Good Authors Lately?” Kate Messner, School Library Journal--that offers advice to help your virtual visit be a success. Although it is geared to Skype, many of guidelines and suggestions apply to a FaceTime visit as well.

My virtual visits generally last for between 45 and 60 minutes. Be in touch if you have questions or would like more information.
