The free verse poems in this collection are similar in style to those in Brickyard Summer. I also use a young boy as the first person narrator. But in these poems I deal with some themes that are a bit more sophisticated than the ones in Brickyard. For example, there are a few poems about first love which connect to poems about physical abuse of the narrator's girlfriend by her father.
I need to say one more thing about this book. There are no typographical errors in the title. The H that normally begins the second word in the title is supposed to be missing. If you want to find out why, you'll have to read the first poem in the book. And, while you're at it, you might as well read all the poems. I think you'll like them.
