Because I've met so many good teachers who feel uncomfortable talking about poetry with students, I wanted to offer a plan for discussing a poem that would not wreck the experience for the students or their teachers. The book is based on 15 classroom-tested "explorations" that include reproducible poems, student pages and graphic organizers to get teachers started. I also include background information on the poets. Basically, it's all you need to engage middle school students as they explore poetry.
